MUSIC APPRECIATION

The Music Appreciation Group meets in members' homes every month. We are an intimate group whose members share a love of music.

Each fall members bring a favourite CD to play for each other. We begin each monthly session with a roundtable discussion, where each member shares a memorable music experience that they have had in the past month, be it concert, opera or other live entertainment.

Members choose topics to present at the monthly sessions. During the pandemic we were not able to meet in person, but we held Zoom sessions on the theme of Desert Island Discs-what you would listen to if marooned on a desert island. Each month , a different member compiled a list of significant music in their lives and sent the list out before the meeting. We would all listen ahead of time and at the Zoom meeting the member would discuss each work. This topic brought us closer together during a stressful time. We learned about our various lives as well as about the music, and we listened at our leisure to a wonderful selection of music.

For 2021-2022, we are hoping to be able to meet again in person, and we have planned to attend two concerts together if restrictions allow. There is always room for members and new ideas for the group are always appreciated.

New members are always welcome.

All Music Appreciation Interest Group Members are asked to subscribe to the Music Appreciation's IG Forum to receive notice of postings so they can stay in the loop.
