Advocacy Committee from “CFUW is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization, working to improve the status of women and to promote human rights, public education, social justice, and peace for girls and women in Canada and around the world. CFUW Clubs are involved in community outreach on such initiatives as working to prevent violence against women, child poverty, early learning and childcare. Our committee meets monthly to discuss the issues of the day and to find ways in which to advocate in our community and to educate and involve our Burlington Chapter. We may write letters to various government officials, prepare special information meetings, review proposed resolutions, and participate in forums, meetings and marches.” to “The Advocacy Committee meets monthly as part of CFUW Burlington. Our purpose is to inform, educate, and gain greater awareness and knowledge on specific topics/issues and how they affect women, our community, as well as how these issues impact ourselves.
Together we’ll investigate the problems, concerns, and needs of women, what resources are currently available, and identify what is needed to provide greater support, awareness and understanding. We will learn together and ADVOCATE together on our chosen topics.
New members are welcome. So, please join us and bring your ideas, thoughts, and perspectives.
