CFUW Burlington is delighted to welcome Olympian, mental health advocate, and author Clara Hughes to Burlington for a special event introducing her new book, Learning to Breathe.
Known to many Canadians as a 6-time Olympic medal winner, Clara’s impact extends far beyon sport. She has become one of the country’s leading advocates for mental health awareness, encouraging open conversations about struggle, healing, and resilience. In Learning to Breathe, Clara shares her most personal story yet, reflecting on the rewards and costs of athletic achievement, her experiences with mental health, and the challenges of navigating life’s major transitions.
We hope you’ll take this opportunity to meet a Canadian hero and enjoy the conversation between Clara and Annette Hamm (CHCH-TV) as they discuss the experiences that have shaped Clara’s journey and the lessons she has learned on the path toward greater self-understanding and hope. Copies of Learning to Breathe will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of our co-host, Different Drummer Books.
