    Halton Community Climate Plan

     CFUW Burlington supporting HEN

    Community Climate Summit

Come and have your say on what climate actions are important for our community.

On May 30, the Halton Environmental Network (HEN)

will be leading a virtual Summit event that is open to

all members of the public, stakeholders and elected

officials. Halton Region has partnered with the HEN to

form a Community Climate Plan and support

    community engagement and outreach.

We want to hear from the community about what the priority actions could be and what will inspire the community to drive action. Community means all sectors and all members - we are all in this together. It’s time to connect and elevate the conversation.

Community Climate Summit (virtual) – Tuesday, May 30th

    Time: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

    Register at: Eventbrite

Alternatively use the Webinar Link: https://halton.zoom.us/u/anlTp1qi

All event details and registration is available through HEN’s Community Climate Plan webpage

At the request of national advocacy and Ontario Council, CFUW Nepean is having Kelly Favro speak again on the sexual assault and publication ban issue, May 17, 2023 at 7 pm EDT. Legislation was tabled in the Senate last week to promote an informed choice for women on this matter.  Since 40 out of 100 women report experiencing sexual assault at some level at least once, this is an important issue for women. The incidence is increasing OR women are now choosing to report it more.

Burlington’s own Chandler Levack, who spoke to our group in the Fall, has received great reviews and praise for her directorial debut and writing skills for her film “ I Like Movies”.  It is now playing in select theatres, including the Burlington Cineplex on Brant St. “Levack has done a remarkable job…If you are looking for a smart, nostalgic throwback to the kinds of films that marked the late nineties and …heyday of high school movies, then I Like Movies deserves more than a rental-see this in theatres, if you can” ( Globe and Mail, Friday March 10)
