Sherri Keller changed the description of the group Book Exchange from “The Book Exchange Group gives members the opportunity to read recently published books that are not yet readily available in libraries or as paperbacks. At a meeting at the end of September, interested members begin to select the books. Other members can make suggestions. We are looking for good reads that most members will find interesting. Each member contributes around $30, depending on the cost of the books. She reads one of the 8 to 10 books, every month, depending on the number of members. She keeps the last book she receives. Each member has her first book by November 1. New members are always welcome!

At our June meeting, 9 books are chosen and each is presented by a member each month. We lean towards fiction, but have also read everything from memoirs to non-fiction. The discussion is lively, the friendship is warm, and we all come away from each meeting with new insights. We meet in a lovely commercial space so there is room for us to grow so come and read with us! Sherri Keller changed the description of the group Mystery Book Club from “The Mystery Book Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday afternoon of each month. We spend about half an hour socializing over coffee/tea and dessert and the rest of the time discussing the book.
 
Each member chooses the book she would like to present. Each of us has our own method of presenting: most will talk a little about the author’s background, give us some idea of what the critics thought of the book, and go on to discuss main literary features of the book, the historical background or the issues that arise from the book; but the emphasis is always on getting everyone involved in the discussions and that is the most important role of the facilitator.
 
We try to review books that are in paperback, more current / readily available in local libraries as an e-book or in hard copy – but that’s not always the case, and no genre is excluded. New members would be most welcome. Come join us.

Sherri Keller changed the description of the group Le Cercle Français from “We are an enthusiastic group of ladies who enjoy speaking French!   Le Cercle Francais meets the 2nd Thursday of every month from 1-3pm.  We rotate hosting duties across members’ homes where coffee, tea and small snack are enjoyed as part of our socializing.  We take turns speaking in French about recent activities or interests.  Members agree to correct each other and to be corrected while leaning on a dictionary or translating app for support when needed. It’s lots of fun and helps us to keep improving our French! Sherri Keller changed the description of the group Lakeside Walk from “The group meets weekly on Friday morning from 10-11:30am (weather permitting).  We depart from the Burloak Waterfront parking lot and walk along the lakeshore.  Anybody who enjoys walking with or without a pole is welcome.  There is always something new to see, and you will enjoy the company of friends.
