Dear Circle of Care friends,
On the evening of December 14th menorah candles burned brightly
beginning Hanukkah.
On the 3rd Sunday of Advent, the candle of Joy flickered its light.
With symbolic candles glowing in homes, synagogues, mosques and churches,
we share in deep mourning
after hearing of the murder of at least 15 Jewish people
on Bondi Beach, Australia.
A Syrian Muslim showed courage as he tackled one of the shooters.
We may find hope as we, in solidarity, are communities of different faiths
that will not let hatred and violence win.
Together we light candles, trusting that darkness cannot extinguish.
May this be a season of hope, peace, joy and love
for all of us who celebrate life.
